A Dialogue or Monologue

An alien with beautiful eyes and a smile full of grace encountered a human who seems to be engrossed about something. Their conversation is as below:

Alien: What is that you are thinking about?

Human: You must not have noticed, this world is full of issues, concerns. I have so many duties & responsibilities. It’s not that I’m not happy but there is a constant struggle to prove

Alien: To whom & what do you prove?

Human: We need to fight for our existence & prove that we are worthy for our work & literally everything- it’s called competition.

Alien: Survival of the fittest, is it?

Human: Yes

Alien:  It is an animal instinct. I thought humans are above these animal instincts. When you are blessed with bountiful of resources on this Mother Earth why do you still struggle?

Human: Because we all fight for the same pie. We struggle to prove our existence. But yes, sadly there are few of us who struggle to meet ends.

Alien: You appear to be a bit contradictory- when you know you are fighting for the same pie, why don’t you just move ahead?

Human: Alas, wish I knew what for I’m here, I would go after my pie.

Alien: Do you think you are sent on Earth to run after pies, collect souvenirs?

Human: What else should I do, I’m just bored. I should keep doing something to occupy myself and tell people around.

Alien: Do you live life for yourself or to prove to people around?

Human: Frankly speaking, to a great extent for the sake of people around me- responsibilities.

Alien: Working for the sake of others is indeed a great quality- then you should be always happy. But why is it not happening?

Human: Let me ponder……..May be because I don’t do it with my heart.

Alien: Any specific reason?

Human: May be because I’m scared to discover the ‘real me’. May be I’m just blaming the people around me- calling it responsibility & shunning my true nature.

Alien: What is your real nature?

Human: Being a human.

Alien: What is it being like a human?

Human: Humanity is a blessing. It gives one the brain to think, body to turn your thoughts into actions & a heart that can carry memories. A heart that can feel & bleed also- A soul that can imprint & touch upon many other souls-make a difference

Alien: Are you living this blessing?

Human: Not fully. But I shall from now. By the way who are you?

Alien: Can you answer this question for yourself?

Human: Until few moments back- no. But yes, now I can. I’m a Human

Alien: You are a Human blessed to experience life in each breath on this beautiful planet called Earth to carry your work wonderfully with Love.

Human: Nice definition…when you can define who I’m so well, I wish to listen to your words on who you are…

Alien: I’m an ‘Angel of Hope’, just like you are an ‘Angel on Earth.’

Human: Do you keep coming here?

Alien: I’m always with you; you just need to open your heart for my messages to flow. By the way, do no start defining ‘you’ again.

You are blessed with an existence to live & let live; not to prove your existence. Your existence is proved each moment you breathe in & breathe out. Craft your work with love not as a burden.

Human: “Live & let live- craft work with Love…”

The Angel of Hope vanished.

The human was left in a mesmerizing state, not sure if this strange meeting really did take place or has it happened inside the brain. No clue. But the message is simple & clear.

A Dream that can come True-A truth that I learnt from my dream

I once had a dream. A dream that woke me up from my slumber and made me think and re think until the Sun had shown up.

I was gifting apples to everyone. There were two baskets. One Empty and One Filled with apples. I was taking the apples from the filled basket and sharing them with everyone- a passerby, a traveler, a soldier, a warrior, a lovely kid, a little girl, a beautiful lady, an expectant mother, an old woman, a small pup. Everyone took the apple and smiled at me. As they moved away, the unfilled basket was basking in glory and its glory had a light that woke me up.

I got up and realized that I’ve been sent to this earth to share invaluable pearls which I brought from His Abode. But all my life I’ve been collecting trifle things which cannot serve any purpose.

Then what do I do?

It’s high time now and I should do something to reverse this situation. A new beginning should commence.

How can I do it?

I would take out the carefully wrapped gift of pearls and start sharing it.

Where do I do it?

There is immense pleasure in sharing my gift with whomever I meet on this Wonderful planet.

Warm smile, a tender heart which can understand someone’s feelings, a lending shoulder, standing as a support to someone in need…These are the Pearls which one can share.

Do I know the greatness of this Gift?

Everyone is sent with the same gifts.

The person who shares it receives them in return in abundance. There is no recession here. Lol 🙂

Last but not the least……they leave an Impression. An undeniable Impression of Life!

Life is a journey where we collect remnants of our ancestors and ensure that these are multiplied to be passed on as Impressions to the next generations…… Are we doing it? If not, we need to.

“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”

30,240 minutes of a Quest to define happiness…May13th, 2014- Day Twenty First of the Quest

Met my target. For today, this alone makes me happy.

21 days of identifying the activities in the mundane day to day life that keeps my spirits high, brings a smile on my face, and encourages me to appreciate life.

“We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same.”  – Anne Frank

Happiness, a state of mind that gives us pleasure in small things. Like a dew drop on the flower petal, it is always there. We should look at it at the right time, otherwise it vanishes. Every day in the morning Nature sends its best wishes with the Sun Rise. It is for me to absorb the same and spread around me. Happiness is in and around me. It is me who should open my eyes and look at it with a Human Heart.

The small things in life, are often the things that give us happiness. The kids laughing at a park in unison, the long walk in a park, a long drive, drizzling showers, pretty flowers, wide colors, everything and anything gives me happiness, if I am willing to absorb the same.

Every new born baby is born with closed fists. It is believed that the child brings happiness and love in those fists. They intend to spread this in the World and having spread it enough, leave this planet with hands spread wide. So, let me spread happiness and love in everyone’s life.

Let me make at least one person’s day special and that gives me eternal happiness.

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is to spread and share happiness.

“Happiness is not achieved by the conscious pursuit of happiness; it is generally the by-product of other activities.”  –  Aldous Huxley

A plain cloth, a scissor, threads of various color, a sharp needle and patterns that soothe the eyes – when all are put in one place, we get a beautiful design.

It is really fun to draw a design on a plain cloth and sewing the same with colorful threads. Sometimes with simple needle and thread we can create a new world before us.  A world where we are the creator and where in we can showcases our thoughts to the outside world.

I started to learn sewing at the age of ten from an aunt. For the first time in my life, I could create something from day to day objects and it conquered my heart. Even today, when machines make magic, I prefer at times sewing traditionally with needle and thread.

A little patience, a bit of passion can create magic in the form of needle work, ribbon work, mirror work, lace work etc. Any form of stitching is like a penance to me. While I stitch, my hands work and my brain relaxes. It is a process wherein the hands do their work steadily and with passion, while the brain relaxes and starts sorting stuff on which it had to work. It bids my time and also gives me a chance to relax. It works as a good exercise for my hands and keeps them fast.

The next best thing of sewing is the magic it creates. When you make little things and share them with near and dear, the happiness would enhance greatly. A handkerchief which is daily used gets a new makeover if it has designs on it. Anyone who uses it appreciates your efforts and it would stand out in a group. Small stuff like an embroidered hand kerchief, a simple bonnet for a baby, stitching a small label or design on  dress, book covers for special books, pillow covers, patterns on door curtains and all the other things…………they just make your home have a special look.

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is take out an old cloth and a sharp needle, colorful threads and create a magical world. The art of stitching and output of your hard work would enhance your happiness any time.

30,240 minutes of a Quest to define happiness…May 11th, 2014- Day Nineteen of the Quest Wrapping a Gift…

Wrapping a Gift…

Each one of us remembers days when we shop extensively for our loved ones. There is an unexpressed calmness and confusion in this endeavor.  The confusion could be because of the reason that we try to think from their perspective; do they like our choice or should we check something else. Solace is for the reason that we forget ourselves in this task and start thinking  from their shoes. I think this is the reason why every culture has imbibed in it the act of exchanging gifts.

The task of shopping for the purpose of gifting our loved ones, sincerely hoping that they would love it and wrapping it carefully while filling it with love gives me immense happiness. Purchasing gifts on occasions like Mother’s Day or Birthday or any other event is something I love to do.

The happiness which a person expresses through his/ her eyes when they receive an unexpected gift is indeed incomparable. A rare spark appears in their eyes; may be because we wrap it with care, affection, love and sincere prayers.

“The greatest gift you can ever give another person is your own happiness”

― Esther Hicks

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is to wrap gifts for our loved ones filled with Unconditional Love.

Talking with Plants….

Did you ever feel like you need a partner at home, who is quiet, silent and yet shows life? Someone with whom you can talk, share happiness, shed tears in pain and yet everything remains a secret! One who demands minimum time and gives maximum results. Well, plant a sapling 🙂

I’m not a Biology Student but I’ve always loved the company of trees and plants. I cannot deny the fact that trees are becoming an extinct thing in the cities. Due to congestion of place in cities; plants have to be grown on the stairs, roof top etc. But I always cherish to water plants, check their growth and talk to them in my garden.

My love for plants started right from the day my first standard teacher gave me an assignment to plant a sapling in order to explain Germination. I think this was the only Science assignment I did with complete dedication. At that age, just as I spoke to my toys; I shared my feelings with plants. But interestingly, I still continue speaking with plants. I had numerous games to play with the plants and trees; because they cannot move and sincerely abide to my rules…Reading Ruskin Bond stories under the shade of a mango tree in the summer was one of the favorite activities. His stories like the “The Cherry Tree” made my love for plants multiply by many times.

When I was in second standard and learnt Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose had conducted experiments on plants and concluded that plants can “feel pain, understand affection etc;”my joys knew no boundaries. May be this is the reason I still talk to the plants and enjoy their company.

Trees and plants have a strange sensation that brings life into the surroundings. I use plants for decoration purpose, for aroma, to absorb dampness, to bring soothing sensation into the room. Plants have a permanent place in my home and in my heart.

Entering into a room that is decorated with ivies, that is filled with perfume from aromatic, fragrant, scented plants brings peace and prosperity in the home

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is to plant a sapling, water it regularly, grow along with it and spend time talking to it.

The Unexpected Guest..

Today is the last working day in the week. From tomorrow begins the wonderful weekend. Like every Friday Morning, I was getting ready for work. Food packed in the box, leftovers of the cooked food being safely secured. Coffee consumed. Milk put back in the refrigerator; nothing more to be done. Well except locking the door and going away.

At that time, the door bell rings. Hoping it is not someone who demands my time, I open the door without thinking. Before me stands a person – a familiar face but whom I could not recognize. Probably because of the morning madness or coming weekend’s expectations, an unknown feeling overtook me. I knew the person but yet I do not know.

Looking at my watch, I still manage to give a wide smile and ask “How can I help you?” The visitor looks into my eyes and confirms if this is the address that the person wants to be in. Cursing the time, I agree.

Before I press for further information, the person sighs and says “Finally, at last. Do you remember me? I am your class mate in school. We were neighbours too.”

I go back to my memory lane and look at the person and try to recall the name. The series of murders in the city, the abduction case filed are going wide in my brain but for a second, heart overruns the brain and allows the suspect in.  I ask for the person’s card and look suspiciously at the person.

That’s when the person says “You changed. You were cautious in school. But not this suspicious.” I smiled and once the name got registered, my brain recalled all the old memories. We both had a laugh at various things, our life’s, our child hood ambitions, the reality and foolishness of them. As I spoke to the person, I realized how welcome an ‘unexpected guest’ could be.

With nothing to offer, I asked if we can share my lunch. The person gladly agreed. We went back into the memory lane, when we shared lunch in the school. The person was my only rescuer whenever my mom cooked a dish that I don’t like and vice versa. Till date my mom is not aware of our scheme.

All the silly things of past, serious concerns of then, the life of ‘test and results’, everything under the sky had been discussed while eating the packed lunch.

I never knew I could talk so much in such a short time. I never expected I would serve packed food to a person visiting my home for first time.

Must be the innocence of childhood or the pressing time, we agreed to meet this weekend.

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is to chat with a close friend. Years might have passed, life could have  changed, but when you meet your friend from past, with or without any intimation, it brings the bliss of childhood into our life once again.

The Magic of the Music

The language of soul

How would it be if there is no chirping sound of birds during sunrise, no sound of the flowing stream, no sound of rustling of leaves, no sound of passing vehicles. How would it be? Pleasant or Unpleasant? Perfect or Imperfect? We associate few words with pictures and pictures with sound.

Sound is an essential part in our day to day life. We all get used to various sounds. The sound of switching on a light, the fan sound, sound of PC when it starts or shuts down, the sound of ringtone of our phone and so on…..

Sound could be a gift of nature or created by Man Kind but it is an essential part of our life. The same sound, when pleasant becomes music to ears and otherwise remains as noise. We cannot avoid noise and we cannot leave good music unappreciated. What can be told in thousand words can be conveyed in one picture and what can be conveyed in pictures can be captured by Music. When proper words are added to wonderful music, a new mode of communication opens up. Music is the language of the soul. The melody of the music makes us forget the world. It has a soothing effect and energizes us.

Music again could be instrumental or with lyrics. Instrumental Music has its own place in the hearts’ of music lovers. Listening Music is one of my favorite pass time. Songs with good lyrics stay in our hearts forever, but songs without words, with only instruments awake unknown energies in us.

Listening to flute played by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia’s is one of the activity which I enjoy a lot. The sweet music of the bansuri slowly immerses oneself into an unknown World. A world filled with sweetness of honey, just like the flowing nectar.

Music has healing powers. It could be rock music or Jazz or Carnatic or Hindustani Music; it is indeed a wonderful experience to listen to music and immerse oneself in the tunes.

My conclusion:

One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is to listen to a wonderful music track.

Eating Chocolate…

Taste that waters your mouth, flavor that tickles your taste buds and smell that conquers your heart beat…..Can anyone refuse chocolate?

New or Old, Plain or with nuts, Packaged or Customized, Wrapped or Unwrapped, Purchased or Homemade, Branded or Unknown Brand,………….no one can say no to a box of chocolates (Other than people with health concerns)

Whenever I imagine a fairy land, it would be a place where walls and windows are made with chocolate, the roof is made with wafers, the garden is filled with fresh cream and the house is loaded with raisins, nuts and sugar. The place would be a dream villa, located in the depths of my heart.

I sincerely hope, we have chocolate as a medicine and chocolate diet would be highly recommended by elders. I wish chocolate is the main supplement for proteins, vitamins and others but not Carbohydrates & Trans fats.

Chocolates have a special place in my heart. Could be Swiss or Italian or Irish handmade Chocolate; they are truly irresistible.

“Life is like a box of chocolates, You never know what you’re gonna get.”

My Conclusion:
One short and quick step for opening door of happiness is eating a chocolate and getting immersed in its yummy flavor.
